Succession planning is defined as the process of choosing a successor in any business which should be taking place only after a well-planned effort. Before looking into the pros and cons of the succession planning and evaluating its effectiveness, one needs to understand why succession planning is important. Let us take the case of Microsoft. With Bill Gates retiring from the company, he will be succeeded by Steven A. Ballmer as the C.E.O and Ozzie as the Chief Software Architect to look after the company’s affairs. If Bill Gates was an icon, Ballmer too is a master in handling the challenges that he would be facing after his exit. And, the choice of having Ballmer was not sudden or a forced decision, rather a well-thought appointment.

In any organization, the person leading the company either retires after his term completes or he quits owing to some reasons. Someone then has to take place and business has to keep going. It has to be someone capable or equivalent to the predecessor. And this is why a succession planning is important.

Succession planning is not just one step at a time but it is an on-going process. It may take days, months and years to have the right person at the right place. It should be an important aspect of every Human Resources department of an organization. Apart from the event of retirement, other incidents can also happen. Like an employee moving to another position within the same company which again needs succession planning.

Now, what goes into the planning of a successor?
An employee at a key post is mentored, trained intensively and often sent on a job-rotation so that he is experienced enough to take the vacant position. Performance- Appraisal comes into the picture where each employee is evaluated by the HR department once, twice or thrice in a year.

After the exit or death of a key person taking care of the business, three options can be possible.Maintenance of the business: The business can be preserved by the heirs of the predecessor, but it needs to be seen whether they have the requisite qualification and skills to lead the company. Sale/Transfer of the business share: The stake holder’s share can be transferred to the other shareholders or can be sold to an outsider. But, succession planning prevents you from selling or transferring the shares or even choosing the wrong person and prompts you to take the right decision only after a good planning. But, succession planning is applicable not only to the key post but also the middle-level and senior-level employees.

Most of the succession plans that take place are not implemented. The results from various organizations in the past have shown that it is due to the bad execution that succession planning is not helpful. Getting a good replacement is necessary otherwise the whole exercise of succession planning is rendered futile. Succession planning should match up with the business strategies chalked out. The mentoring and training during the succession planning requires a team effort. One of the best examples where succession planning has assumed a good role is Wipro Technologies. Succession planning also helps develop skills with in the organization, instills leadership qualities in the employees and of course the continuity of smooth business operation.

One negative aspect of succession planning is talent and brain drain. Once the employees are trained and equipped, they have a tendency to join a new company. With the training, a cost-factor is involved. It may lead to huge budgets sometimes which will be difficult to cope up with. When choosing a successor, company may have to shell out some extra money to find the right person and to fend off the business. In a nutshell, whatever the costs may be associated with the succession planning or the unpredictable aftereffects of it, or how tough a job is the choice of an invincible person to fit in the vacant position, it is a necessity today and it is also critical to deciding the future course of the business.

MLM Abundance Secrets – How to Be Free in the Network Marketing Industry

Monday, November 15th, 2010

7 years ago when I started in the MLM profession, I had the hardest time succeeding that you could possibly think of. Every way I tried to succeed was met with frustration and despair. I was always wondering what the secret was that allowed those ‘gurus’ on the stage to make ridiculous passive incomes from home, while I struggled 8-10 hours per day to eek out a measly living from my job.

I tried absolutely everything that you could imagine. I made a list of my friends and family to start, and I called everyone. Certain of my new found future success from the completion of calling all of my friends, family, and relatives, I waited with an air of anticipation…

…An interesting thing happened:

Six months later I was JUST AS BROKE as when I began. In fact, I was significantly more broke. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t discover the secrets to MLM success. Since I couldn’t find ‘The Secret’, I quit my company thinking I could find it elsewhere.

I worked at that company for a full year, buying leads, attending conventions, making lists, wandering around in shopping malls, placing ads in newspapers – I even went door to door trying to sell my products, if you can imagine something so stupid…

…Finally, I collapsed in a figurative pile of exhaustion, broken from a level of failure I would have never been able to guess.

For some unexplainable reason, I just wouldn’t quit. 3 years passed by in utter and complete failure. In the end, when I was about ready to quit altogether, Five years into my life as a ‘MLM Grinder’ I figured out the secret that was the common denominator through every successful network marketing experience that I had ever encountered.

You see, I hadn’t yet had any success of my own, but I had the pleasure of meeting more than a thousand successful MLM distributors. I would ask them again and again ‘what’s the secret to success in the MLM industry?’

Each time, I got a different answer, and finally, I discovered by accident that there was ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR that powered all of their success. Are you ready for the MLM secret?

The only secret to MLM success is that a leaders ability to build an organization is directly related to the size, quality, and relationship that they have with their list.

So there is only one factor, one ‘secret’ that will determine your MLM success – the list will power your business.

You may be asking – ‘huh?’ Well, I met people who swore that the secret to success in MLM was making a list of their friends and family, calling them up, and inviting everyone over to your house to show them the plan. These people were very successful doing something that frustrated me to no end. Interesting.

I met other people who swore that the secret to MLM success was meeting people through business networking events. They would attend trade shows, luncheons, speakers associations, and the like all working to build quality relationships with people of influence.

And then there were others who had entire empires built online, and their method was the same – that is, their primary strategy was building a vast list of people through careful online marketing campaigns. So on the surface, the secret to their MLM success seemed to be Internet marketing.

I could give you example after example, however the story remains the same. So my actual flaw was the quality, size, and relationship I had with my broke friends and relatives list – while my upline had ran a corporation, owned several companies, and was a professional consultant – of course his list was better.

I had a list of my broke relatives – and my Internet marketing friends had a list of 30,000 hungry entrepreneurs who hung on their every word.

So what should you do with this enlightening information? Well, you need to take your skills into account, take a look at marketing systems, and build a list of as many qualified contacts that you possibly can, as fast as you possibly can – and if you do that, your days of struggle in the MLM profession will be a thing of the past. Forever.

When I applied the strategies I learned, in less than 12 months I built a list of more than 30,000 contacts – part time. I’m sure you know the ending – my story is now one of prosperity. My advice is for you to learn as much about online business development as you can, because I have found that it is the easiest, simplest, fastest way to build a HUGE database of hungry people to market to. Even though you will be building online, always remember that the other ways still work – they just don’t work for everyone. What you really need is the best system for you.

I wish you the best of success in your prosperity!

Learn Why the Gambling Industry Has Grown so Fast

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The online gambling industry is one of the fastest growing online industries. Every year more and more people prefer to gamble online, and the money involved exceeds billions of dollars. This is why there are many people who earn money from online gambling. Some of them are skilled gamblers, while others are webmasters who promote online gambling.

The most common forms of online gambling are online poker, online casinos and online betting. Each of them attracts huge amounts of money, and there is an opportunity for everybody to earn something. The most common way of earning money from online gambling is by playing poker. There are many poker sharks who earn a living playing online, and many good players who earn some extra money playing poker.

This is why many people join the online poker world every year, and the industry has developed a lot. Now there are even 3D poker rooms, where you can play poker in a very realistic environment. This is the case of PKR, the poker room with the best graphics.

Poker rooms offer nice incentives to players to sign up, like bonuses and freerolls. It is important to find some nice bonuses when starting your online poker career, because they will help you boost your bankroll. Always look for a bonus code when signing up at a poker room.

Another way of earning money gambling online is from online betting. You can bet on almost any sporting event, and you can make good money if you have good knowledge about any sport. The online bookmakers have different odds, and it is very advisable to read bookmaker & sports book rankings before choosing the site where you will bet.

There is another option to make money from online gambling, for those who are afraid to put their money at stake and don’t want to gamble. This is an excellent money making opportunity for website owners. Promoting gambling is one of the most rewarding forms of online affiliation, and a webmaster can make very much money promoting poker, betting or casinos.

For example, the Bet-at-home bookmaker affiliate program will reward a webmaster with 30% of the profit generated by the players sent for the lifetime of the players. Online stores usually pay for recurring sales for a year or less, but gambling websites give you the share of the profit for life.

The only thing we don’t advise you to do if you would like to make money from online gambling is to play at the casinos. You can surely win, and even big amounts of money, but you will always be more likely to lose. However, there were lucky winners who got their hands on huge jackpots of more than a million dollars, and there will surely be more in the future.

Whatever the way you will get involved in the online gambling industry, you should always remember that gambling involves luck, so you should never invest more than you can afford to lose.

The experts estimate that the total turnover of the gambling industry will rise dramatically in the next years, so there is no need to worry for those who would like to try to make money gambling online. There will be more and more poker players for the sharks to feed, and more gamblers for the affiliates to recruit. The casinos and sports books will make more money from their online business, and everyone will get paid.

Six Tips For Beginners in MLM Industry

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Choose wisely. There are six major elements you should be looking for in a network marketing company:

* Stability. How old is the company?
* Outstanding products or services that customers will use and need more of.
* The pay plan—it should be smooth and reasonable and generous. This is really vital as the pay plan depicts exactly how you’ll get paid–or not get paid.
* The honesty of the company and the management. As much as possible, examine the experience of the CEO and reputation in the network marketing industry.
* Momentum and timing. Search out the company’s location, current affairs of the company, and if it is rising.
* Support, training and business systems. A company with brilliant management, products and services, with a pay plan that’s exclusively fair and very liberal will be in no use without good support and training.

Practice what they teach. For success, beginners need to be eager to pay attention and learn from counsellors. But whatever the counsellor did to become successful, don’t try to copy them blindly, but you have to be keen to snoop and be taught and pursue those systems.

The higher-ups. The general term is the “upline,” meaning the people higher than you. They should be as committed to your success as they are to their own. Newcomers should be capable to relate to upline and be able to call them at any time to say, “I need some help.”

Take up the lead with your downline. There’s a term in the network marketing industry called “orphans”— newcomers joining the MLM industry and have nothing to do as their mentors are busy to join more downline. Mentors should be ready to bear at least 30 days training a newcomer into the industry– helping them and holding their hand until they feel positive to be able to go off on their own.

On the net. People are using Internet as their main web-marketing tool. You can build your site with auto responders. One of the greatest ways to success in this industry is follow-up. Computerization on the Internet has endorsed a much more reliable method of following up.

The only shortcoming of the Internet is people who use it to spam. Spamming should be avoided as it can give a very bad name not only to you but also to the company you’re dealing with.

Taking care of business. As this is a business, and just like if you were running a trade or a shop, you should maintain all the official formalities. You have all the same write-offs tax-consultants that you have with running a [full-time] business, so it’s very important to make a research prior to getting engaged, before you start getting cash from it.

It’s important to build a support team around you and seeking for suggestions to the lawyers, who are proficient with MLM industry or Direct-Selling Company.

Why Are People In Mlm So Emotionally Attached To The Industry?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I assess businesses for a living and look mostly at real estate. When I have been presented a deal and determined it was a poor investment, people generally do not get emotional or upset calling me names and telling me I am negative. This is the same in most business ventures.
But in MLM, you can express your opinion of it being a poor business choice and you get MLMers jumping all over you as though you insulted their family?
Is this because people get in to MLM emotionally instead of intellectually (on the hype as oppose to assessing it as a business), or is it because MLM is more cult like that they would like to admit?

I think of MLM as more of a club than a legitimate business, people join because their friends and family recruit them and they make bad business decisions they might not otherwise make if friends and family weren’t involved. I also think that their ENTIRE business model relies on them being able to sell you on the idea too. That is why they will go to great lengths to persuade you to join up, because they are financially inclined to do so, to the point of free informational sessions, trips, etc. Most of these legalized pyramid/ponzi schemes also have several classes that teach people to be relentless in their recruiting tactics, which would elicit the behavior you observed. I stay WELL away from anyone pushing this horrible business model…
