Online Business Articles – How To Read for Profit

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Considering the vast range of how-to subjects covered, ezine-articles could be one of the best ways to improve an online business. But really taking profitable advantage of these articles very often reaches one’s over-whelm thresholds because even a subscription to a few ezines brings in more articles than there is time to attend to.

Lack of time leads to unproductive habits… articles that need to be carefully read tend to get lightly scanned. Ideas that flow from such reading get mentally indexed to be used later, which of course does not happen. More often than not the only thing that happens to an ezine article is that it is saved for future reference – never to be seen again! Before we know it, the very purpose of subscribing – to learn how to improve our business – is defeated.

Here are some simple steps to extract real benefits from the ezine articles that reach your inbox. Use them often and you will convert plain-ol’ article-reading into online profits!

1. Take control – limit your ezine subscriptions.

2. Try reading as opposed to scanning!

3. Stop making ‘mental notes’

4. Stop saving articles, hints, tips for ‘later’

5. Take this major step to distil profits from ezine articles.

Copy and save the article in a ‘notepad’ file. Now resize this notepad file to occupy half your monitor, say the left half; In the right half, open which ever aspect of your online business the article refers to…web-design, web- copy, web-traffic, ad-headline, ad-copy, whatever. Begin reading the article on your left and immediately correlate it’s info with your efforts on the right – instantly correcting, editing, changing…

A simple process no doubt but in all probability you will be surprised by the results and benefits this simple action will bring you.

If you were working on an ad-headline, right then and there your headline could morph into that ‘hypnotic’ spell you’ve never been able to cast till now. If you were working on ad-copy, yours could metamorphose into an enticing butterfly simply as a result of applying the hints you just read in that article on ad-copy writing.

Or maybe you’ll begin to understand how small changes to your site content could trigger the emotional switch to impel people to buy stuff from your site….as explained by that SEO guru in the article you are ‘reading’.

Of course, you could avoid saving to notepad by simply having both – the article and your work – open and alt+tabbing (windows) between the two. I prefer notepad for it helps me concentrate – the stark black-n-white format with no toolbars whatsoever helps to stay focused. For me this gets the job done quickly and I end up having enough time to tackle more articles.

Another thing you could do is print the article. This has the advantage of being able to be read from more ‘angles’ than is possible with a desktop or laptop and this is important for one never knows from which angle or when inspiration may peep out. A pencil or pen at hand is vital to capture fleeting wisps of inspiration which can be quickly jotted on the hard copy. Work on the inspired bits later but first grab ‘em.

Now all those potent articles which would normally be scanned and most probably canned…are Saved…Read…Applied. Better yet, you’ve not only finished reading the article, you have even assimilated the information. You most probably will not need to refer to that article again. You have become the info! Your online business reflects your new knowledge!

Another benefit of approaching the nuts and bolts of an online biz in this simple way is the tackling of a major obstacle to online success – Procrastination! Things get done when they need getting done!

Another benefit? Seeing immediate changes in your efforts awakens a host of dormant emotions…enthusiasm, optimism, confidence, passion; And who can stop an enthusiastic human? Even the Universe gears up to respond affirmatively to the ‘intelligent use of intelligence’

The spouse, too, notices something’s up!!! :-).

Cheers!

Networking – The Success Connection

A Drop in the Bucket or Buckets of Opportunity

We have all questioned whether Chamber of Commerce after five meetings, the hours on the golf course, numerous business dinners and even the organized networking events have any bottom line value. After all, they take time and money. Is there any payback? Furthermore, when we are so busy doing all the right business networking, we may be overlooking, or even eliminating, natural networking opportunities that arise from hobbies, sports outings, social events or even the potential of casual situations that occur while standing in line or waiting in waiting-rooms. How much networking is enough? Too little? Overkill.

Networking: Yours, Mine and Ours

Everything we send out is either a positive or negative and comes back to us tenfold. Networking is the way in which we take the contacts we already have and send out ripples that bring back waves of new business. Ideally we want networking to be simple, painless and productive. It’s easy for experienced business networkers to rhyme off the pluses of mutual benefit, positive give-and-take and win-win relationships. However, the new age of business networking is adding relationships into the mix. Now It’s not all about me. It’s not all about you. It’s about us — pulling together — in the same direction.

From Hard Sell to Soft Touch

The days of the hard-sell “Here’s my card. Call me. Who’s next?” networker have been replaced. Today’s more knowledgeable buyer wants to know who they are dealing with and whether they can trust you to deliver the goods before they hand over the cash.

You might still have your cards handy but now you write what you can do for your new contact or highlight what you heard them tell you. This alone could detour your business card from the wastebasket because you have moved from “I’m pressuring you!” to “Hey that felt good!”

Three “Know Knows” of Great Networking

1. Who You Know
2. When you consciously consider all the people you know and actually list them, you will be amazed at the number of people that you have varying levels of connection with. Consider that each of these people has a similar list to yours and you begin to see the huge resource that you could tap into. Who Knows You
3. The real effectiveness of networking comes when the best-qualified people in terms of your success have gone beyond the acquaintance only level. They are actively seeking you out because they know you and what you do, they know what you want and they know what they have that you need. Know How
The bottom line is definitely know how. The know how it took to identify what you need. Then the know how of customizing your network by identifying the priority connections you are seeking. It’s also the know how of not stopping too soon. If you stop too soon you send time and money down the drain. Now is time to go beyond the self-analysis. It is time to train your networking team to find the potential referrals you need. It’s hard to imagine, but with each trusted connection that you establish you gain the enthusiastic referrals of your own Personal-Networker.

Is Your Network Working for You?

If your networking is effective, you will be able to give positive, detailed answers to each of the following questions:

* When was the last time your network sent a business referral your way?
* Does your network provide you with the expert contacts you need?
* Where do you source out new ideas or pick up on new trends?
* Can you see yourself starting a joint venture with someone from your contact list?
* Is your network tapping into your expertise by providing you with speaking engagements, participation on panels or consulting opportunities?

We believe small changes to your networking strategy can turn on unlimited potential. Here are some ideas to consider before you take your next networking opportunity: BEFORE:

* Take 10 to 15 minutes to determine who you would like to meet
* Have your Networking Kit ready: business cards, relevant schedule of other networking events, copy of article you may want to share (at the END of the event)
* Make the effort to attend about 4 events per month

DURING:

* Get involved as a volunteer at the event. You could make great connections.
* Be the host. Everyone loves to be introduced.
* Approach 1 or 3 people. Pairs are hard to break into.
* Build relationships.
* Don’t measure success on how many of your business cards you gave out.

AFTER:

* Make it your policy to return calls with 24-48 hours.
* Check in regularly with everyone you identify as a Personal-Networker
* Give great referrals. What you send out will come back to you.

Thank you for tapping in to “Networking: The Success Connection”.

Teaching Jobs Overseas for Couples

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Teaching couples are very popular with international school recruiters for many reasons but the main one is that couples can often work out cheaper to hire in the long run. This article however, is all about teaching jobs overseas from the viewpoint of the teaching couples, rather than the schools.

Whether you are married or not you can look for jobs as a teaching couple, most schools do not discriminate against couples who do not have a marriage certificate. An obvious exception is schools in the Middle East. It is very difficult for non-married couples to land jobs in international schools in the Middle East, where governments’ regulations stipulate that couples seeking working visas produce a marriage certificate.

You may be able to find a way around this problem but it is unlikely that international school recruiters recruiting for schools in the Middle East are going to find non-married teaching couples an attractive employment prospect when compared to married ones. If you are in this situation, your best bet is to concentrate your job hunt on other regions in the world.

When looking for a teaching job abroad as a couple, there are several options open to you:

You can look for suitable teaching vacancies in international schools that will suit both you and your partner’s teaching skills. This will involve finding schools that have vacancies for both of you, a task that is easier at the beginning of the recruiting season because schools have yet to fill their vacancies. Generally speaking December through to March is the best time for teaching couples to look for overseas teaching positions together in the same school. Teaching couples are hot employment prospects at this time because hiring a teaching couple has an impact on the benefits schools have to pay.

Alternatively, you and your partner can look for teaching vacancies in international schools in the same cities. A number of teaching couples are lucky enough to find teaching jobs abroad in different schools in the same city. If you have not taught in the same school as your partner or spouse before, you may find this a better option for you.

The most efficient method to find teaching jobs in different international schools in the same city is to attend an international teaching job fair. At an international teaching job fair you will find many school s from around the globe in the one location, all looking for teachers to fill their vacancies. Often you will find a number of recruiters from the same city at a job fair and it is possible to schedule interviews with each of them individually.

At most job fairs you will also be able to see international school recruiters give presentations about their school and the working in the community. This can help you make an informed decision about whether a school, city or country will be a good fit for you and your family.

In a nutshell, teaching jobs overseas for couples are available and many international school recruiters actively look for teaching couples when they are recruiting. However, one of the first decisions you must make is whether you wish to teach in the same school as your spouse or partner and then hunt for teaching positions that suit your needs.

The Meaning of Skull and Crossbones Symbol

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

The symbol of a human skull and crossbones was a common sight on medieval pirate flags and now, the Unicode 2620 computer document. Other than these, the symbol has been flaunted on cemetery entrances, radiation outposts and toxic dumps.

History of the Skull and Crossbones Symbol:

The history of the skull and crossbones symbol dates back to the 1700s, when the entrances to Spanish cemeteries were marked with actual human skulls and bones. This ‘campo santo’ practice led to the symbol being associated with death. The sign was engraved on tombstones across Europe. Many crucifixes were designed to feature the skull and crossbones symbol beneath the corpus or depiction of Jesus’ body. Most of the Christian association with the symbol comes from the mention of the place of Christ’s crucifixion as ‘Golgotha’ or the place of a skull, in the New Testament of the Holy Bible (Mark 15:22).

The 1732 Nuestra Señora del Pilar church structure that overlooked the Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Argentina, was designed to depict the symbol. By the 1800s, the skull and crossbones symbol was used to label containers of poisonous substances, alongside the ‘XXX’ symbol. In the nineteenth century, the presence of the symbol on poison bottles became ubiquitous. It was also used by military forces on ‘Jolly Roger’ submarine flags, reconnaissance battalion emblems and fighter unit aircraft tails. The skull and crossbones symbol is today, one of the most recognizable squadron markings.

Meaning of Skull and Crossbones Symbol:

The symbol is indicative of danger and impending harm. It’s association with death, poison and secret societies and their undertakings has resulted in the symbol being recognized as a fraternity and unicode motif. Today, the skull and crossbones is commonly associated with references to:

HTML entity
Hussars and dragoons
Nazi SS service
British lancer regiments
Los húsares de la muerte, a paramilitary guerrilla group in Chile
Chetniks or the Serbian royalist and nationalist paramilitaries
Kuperjanov’s Partisan Battalion
The skull and crossbones remains a standard symbol for poison, even beyond industrial usage. It is a sign that environmentally conscious consumers look for. The symbol has been adopted all through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, for various reasons. Business and religious fraternities, secret societies, sororites and even the public domain used the skull and crossbones symbol on their badges and logos. As a hazard symbol it warns about the location of toxic material. The symbol is usually accompanied by supplemental information that specifies the nature of the hazard. The use of the symbol has certainly increased since the 1700s. The modern consumer continues to interpret the sign as an indication to ‘stay away’ from some area or material.

Warning- Before You Buy Acai Berry Juice

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the Acai Berry (pronounced AH-sci-EE). This little Brazilian berry has been on Oprah, all the major morning shows, magazines, etc. Touted as the best antioxidant, apparently it’s nothing short of a miracle.

The acai berry growns in the Amazon Rain Forest and tastes like a berry with a chocolate aftertaste. Sounds fabulous! It even beats the blueberry in its antioxidant properties.

You don’t want me to rehash all the benefits from antioxidants and the acai berry – go to any of the many articles you see.

Be forewarned — as good as this little berry is, it will not reverse aging and cure diseases! I’ve seen press releases with those words in the title. When you go to the website, it’s just a front for another website that sells the product – but you won’t see that claim on THEIR website.

It wasn’t until a friend of mine started taking MonaVie and told me how much he was paying for it that I decided to explore it further.

$39 a bottle ($25 with a bulk purchase) – and a bottle only lasts about a week! No joking! Not only that, MonaVie is basically an MLM (multi level marketing) product.

So the quest was on. Find out what I could about this “miracle antioxidant” and see if other quality products are available for less.

I found a site that gives a pretty good detailed description of what it is and what it does. Granted, they are selling a product, but they also give great non-technical information. You can get information from the link at the end of this article.

What Are Some of the Different Acai Berry Products?

You can purchase it in various formats, but the primary 3 types are in juices, powders, and freeze-dried capsules.

JUICE

MonaVie comes in juice format and has to be refrigerated. Their acai juice is really a blend of 19 different fruits. There’s no way of knowing precisely how much acai berry is in their formula.

If you like the juice blend, I’ve discovered another product for about half the price. If you scroll down their sales page, you’ll find a side-by-side comparison of their ingredient labels. They at least publish the amount of acai berry they have in their juice. I find it funny that they also claim to have more acai in their juice than the MonaVie product – how is that possible when nobody knows how much acai is in the MonaVie product?

POWDER

The powders sure ran the gambit, but most of them are not all that pure in their ingredients. Even Dr. Perricone’s powder (made from extract) had all kinds of other fruit extracts and ingredients. So you can get Dr. Perricone’s Super Berry Powder with Acai for $50 for a month’s supply, or for less than half the price, you can get Berry Splash. It looks like about the same ingredients – at least they provide some ORAC values (that’s a way of measuring the antioxidants).

FREEZE DRIED CAPSULES

In this process, the berries are freeze dried and then processed as a powder or capsule. Most of the acai powders you see on the market are not actually freeze dried. They are usually made from a extract (which does not use the whole berry) or spray dried. There are some good ones, though. Check the ingredient labels.

I have found what I think is perhaps the purest grade of Acai available in an easy-to-take capsule form. Be sure to check out the link below for recommendations to various types of Acai Berry products.

What Does it Take to Make Money on the Internet?

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

There are many people that get online every day looking for a business opportunity that they can use to start their own home business. Most people think that all it takes to make money online is to find the right opportunity. This is one very important step in having a successful internet business but it is definitely not all you need to do to make money on the internet. So, what all does it take?

One: It takes education. Most people are wondering how that is going to help you with your own home business. Just like with any other business you would start offline, an online business needs to be built. In other words, you have to know how to advertise your internet business so you can make money on the internet. There are a lot of different methods that you can use to advertise. You need to choose one at a time, learn how to do it and when you feel comfortable with that method; you add another and learn it. You want to do this until you are using at least 5 to 7 methods at all times to promote your business.

You need to realize that success doesn’t just fall into your lap; you have to work hard for it just like you do for everything else in life.

Three: A couple of other things that you will need are patience and time. Patience will be for when you are building your business and not getting the results that you want or seeing it build slower than you wanted. Time is because if you don’t put time and effort into your business, you will never have a successful business that will make money on the internet.

Four: The most important thing you will need is dedication, motivation and the drive to succeed. The more you want success the easier it will happen for you. So get it in your mind that you will succeed no matter what it takes. You need motivation to help you keep moving towards your goals when you run up against obstacles.

These are not the only things that you need to make money on the internet but they are some of the most important ones. You can try and make money online without these things but you will always struggle. So be smart about your home business and do all of these things to help you succeed better.

Israel to Scrutinise Military Conduct

Monday, September 20th, 2010

The Israeli defence minister, Amir Peretz, has launched a military commission to examine the performance of the military during the 34-day war in Lebanon, amid increasing domestic criticism of the government’s conduct.

The failure of the Israeli armed forces to defeat Hizbullah guerrillas during the conflict has delivered a serious blow to the confidence of the military, which has a reputation for dramatic and overwhelming victories following the wars of 1967 and 1973.

An initial spirit of unity among the Israeli public evaporated in the last days of the war as hawkish generals, including the former defence minister Shaul Mofaz, castigated the government for not launching a more aggressive invasion sooner. Israel’s political left also fell out with the government towards the end of the war, arguing that military chiefs had no strategy for their invasion of Lebanon.

Criticism mounted yesterday when it was revealed that the military chief of staff, Dan Halutz, had made a major sale of shares in between back-to-back meetings on the day the conflict began. The sale was seen as evidence of corruption from an official who would be in control of the conduct of the war and the resulting knock-on effects on the Israeli stock market.

Opinion polls had little good news for prime minister Ehud Olmert’s government. A poll by TNS-Teleseker found support for Mr Olmert dropping to 40% from 78% in the early weeks of the war, while Mr Peretz’s approval ratings fell from 61% to 28%.

A second poll by the Dahaf Research Institute found that 57% believed Mr Peretz should resign and 70% opposed a ceasefire that did not provide for the return of two Israeli soldiers captured by Hizbullah which sparked the war.

The Israeli foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, said at the United Nations today that a joint UN-Lebanese peacekeeping force being sent to southern Lebanon must “fully implement” the UN resolution that ended the war on Monday.

Israeli officials are pushing for the force to disarm Hizbullah fighters and believe the UN resolution requires this, although the wording of the document is deliberately vague and Lebanese leaders are proposing a compromise whereby Hizbullah will not show their arsenal openly.

Alongside the 1,110 Lebanese killed in the conflict, 118 Israeli soldiers and 39 civilians were killed. Israel failed to stop Hizbullah from firing rockets into towns in northern Israel and was unable to drive small bands of Hizbullah fighters out of several strategic towns in southern Lebanon, despite superior firepower and training.

Mr Peretz’s commission would be led by the former military chief and centrist government minister Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, and would include the former air commander Herzl Bodinger and the pharmaceuticals tycoon Eli Hurvitz.

It was expected to deliver a report within three weeks, although it was unclear whether its findings would be binding. A similar commission after the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacres in Beirut led to the dismissal of the then defence minister Ariel Sharon and his absence from frontline Israeli politics until the late 1990s.

Israeli political analysts believe the conflict has driven Israeli politics to the right, with serious damage done to the ruling Kadima party’s plans for unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank and little public desire for a more dovish negotiated withdrawal.

Such views fared badly during the war, according to Professor Efraim Inbar of the Begin-Sadat centre for Strategic Studies. “I think talk to your enemy and all this dovish discourse has been much discredited in Israel now, and I think that’s healthy,” he told Guardian Unlimited. “I would say the majority of Israelis feel that we live in a jungle here.”

The deputy prime minister, Shimon Peres, said the government would survive the fallout from the conflict. “It (Israel) is a democratic country and criticism is part of democracy. So I won’t be surprised if there is criticism but I do believe the government will hold on,” he told Reuters.

How To Groom A Horse

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Grooming a horse needs various grooming tools. Know what to keep in your horse grooming kit and learn about cleaning a horse using the correct grooming equipment as well as other handy horse grooming tips.

To have a clean horse, there are some essentials you will need in your grooming kit. Theses are the basic items and some grooming tips for horses and ponies

The horse grooming brushes you may need when you are grooming horses are the dandy brush, body brush and water brush. Keep reading for tips on how to groom horses with each horse brush.

There are two types of combs you can use when you are grooming ponies and horses, the curry comb and the mane and tail comb.

You will also need two sponges and some other accessories in horse grooming kits. Keep reading for the essential horse grooming equipment and to find out how to groom a horse.

A hoof pick – this is essential part of grooming your horse to make sure there are not rock, stones or other objects caught in your horse or pony’s hooves

A dandy brush – a heavy duty brush to get all that mud off your horse or pony’s muddy coat. This horse brush is great in the winter, but be careful if you brush a horse with this one and they are a bit ticklish!

A body brush – a softer brush to take off all the dust and scurf from your horse or pony’s coat. You can also use the body brush to gently brush their mane and tail. The best way how to brush a horse, is in the direction of the way the hair is laying.

A rubber curry comb – you can use this on your horse or pony to help get that long haired coat off them in Spring time. When you are cleaning a pony or horse, use it in a circular motion

A metal curry comb – be careful not to use this one directly on you pony or horse. It is for cleaning the body brush only! Just rub the two across each other and watch out that you don’t end up with all the removed dirt all over you!

A mane and tail comb – be careful when using the mane and tail comb that you don’t pull out or break too many of your horse or pony’s hairs. They take a long time to grow you know. Use your fingers first to gently separate bits of the mane and tail and then use the comb sparingly. Use the body brush the most on manes and tails.

A water brush – another heavy duty brush that you can use this to damp down your horse or pony’s mane and tail when you have finished brushing them with the body brush. So that the mane lies flat and the top of the tail stays in place. Don’t use your water brush as your dandy brush or it will all get mighty muddy!

Two sponges – use one to gently wash the eyes of your horse or pony and their muzzle. Use the other sponge for the other end – the dock (under their tail). It can be useful to have two sponges of different colours or different shapes so that you know which one goes where!

Bot knife – can be useful to remove bot eggs from your horse or pony’s legs. It is not easy to get them off any other way.

Hoof oil and brush – you can put on some hoof oil. Some people like it, some people don’t.

A plastic bucket, or a container with a lid is also a good idea to include in grooming kits for horses. In fact it is a better idea if you keep your horses grooming kit clean and organised and keep it inside the bucket or container.

Commercial Mortgage Leads Can Improve Your Business

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

If you are a commercial mortgage broker and want to increase your sales to grow you business, consider purchasing some commercial mortgage leads to get you where you need to be. Have a verified lead can help you get the advance that you need.

When you go online you will see web banners and web pages that are advertising free online mortgage loan quotes. The people that respond to these free banners and sites then become a mortgage loan lead. All they need to do is fill out a small online form and submit it and the lenders will be contacting them.

The information that a potential customer has to fill out is very basic and will only provide contact information for the most part. The rest of the information will be provided directly to the person that calls them back to provide a sales pitch for a mortgage loan. Because the person that is interested in getting the loan is the one that is asking for a free estimate, this is considered a verified business lead.

After the information that is provided online is compiled, it is then sold to one or more mortgage companies as a business Lead. The fees for these leads can be large or small depending on how exclusive it is.

If you want to purchase commercial mortgage leads that will only be sold to you and no one else, an exclusive lead, you will be paying a larger fee for it. The smaller fees to get a mortgage lead only guarantees that you get the information, not that it will only be sold to you. As a matter of fact, if you do not pay for an exclusive lead, the same lead that you pay a small fee for will probably be sold to at least eight other mortgage companies and then it becomes a race.

With nonexclusive commercial mortgage leads comes the pressure of competition. You will sure to be racing against other companies to get in touch with the person that filled out the request first and to get your proposal to them before the others. If you would prefer not to have to rush to work on the lead, you should consider paying the extra money for the exclusive lead.
